Communications
The Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Police Department currently has four full time dispatchers and two part time dispatchers. The dispatchers handle radio dispatching for the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Police and Fire Department. Dispatchers answer all emergency 911 and non-emergency telephone calls. Dispatchers also tend to the front counter to assist citizens. Dispatchers enter and remove information from the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS).
Dispatchers receive in-service training when they are hired and continue to attend training classes. Dispatchers must obtain a Terminal Operator’s Certificate to query ACJIS. Dispatchers also attend the BIA Dispatch Training held in New Mexico.
