COMMUNITY ACTION SQUAD

The Community Action Squad is comprised of four Officers that are supervised by a Sergeant. The Officers and Sergeant are certified Police Officers and School Resource Officers. The Community Action Squad is involved in the intervention and prevention aspect of law enforcement. The officers teach the Sooper Puppy, D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T. programs at H’man 'Shawa Day School and the neighboring elementary schools in Fountain Hills. The officers are also involved in the summer youth program, Camp Yavapai, where they teach various safety related topics. The Community Action Squad provides law related or safety related presentations to the community.

The Community Action Squad has also partnered with various departments within the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation in an effort to intervene and prevent unwanted behavior and lifestyles. The Community Action Squad is actively involved with assisting and supporting the Juvenile and Adult Wellness Court, the Yavapais Against Substance Abuse committee, the Housing Department, the Safety Committee and the Domestic Violence Abuse Prevention Team.

In addition to covering all the school programs, committee meetings, programs, special events and administrative assignments, the Community Action Squad assists the Patrol Section with traditional Police functions as needed.
