The Community Action Squad is comprised
of four Officers that are supervised by a Sergeant. The Officers and
Sergeant are certified Police Officers and School Resource Officers. The
Community Action Squad is involved in the intervention and prevention
aspect of law enforcement. The officers teach the Sooper Puppy, D.A.R.E.
and G.R.E.A.T. programs at H’man 'Shawa Day School and the neighboring
elementary schools in Fountain Hills. The officers are also involved in
the summer youth program, Camp Yavapai, where they teach various safety
related topics. The Community Action Squad provides law related or
safety related presentations to the community.
The Community Action Squad has also
partnered with various departments within the Fort McDowell Yavapai
Nation in an effort to intervene and prevent unwanted behavior and
lifestyles. The Community Action Squad is actively involved with
assisting and supporting the Juvenile and Adult Wellness Court, the Yavapais Against Substance Abuse committee, the Housing Department, the
Safety Committee and the Domestic Violence Abuse Prevention Team.
In addition to covering all the school
programs, committee meetings, programs, special events and
administrative assignments, the Community Action Squad assists the
Patrol Section with traditional Police functions as needed.
